The Coasters might have a claim to be in. They did all this light-hearted stuff in the '50s like "Yackety Yak."
James Taylor makes me vomit.
I would leave the following out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
Dishwalla Tears for Fears The Carpenters Dolly Parton and, as great as Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo is (and let's face it, it may be the greatest song of all time), Rick Derringer. Even if you count Hang On Sloopy.
James Taylor IS rock and roll, but only to people who AREN'T rock and roll, like ME, which would mean that the genre-labeling is really relative to who the LISTENER is and not the artist.
Who are The Coasters? Or The Impressions?
ReplyDeleteI don't know any of these R&B folks, so I probably shouldn't judge.
You know who I will judge?
Dion.
And how the hell is James Taylor "rock and roll"?

ReplyDeleteAhhh, sweet post-modernism.
Also, baseball should not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Baseball has its own Hall of Fame. Surely that's enough.
